Over the past five years or so, there seems to have been a boom in gluten-free products on our shelves. No I understand that for many people this can truly be a blessing, allowing them to eat foods and drink products that otherwise they would not be able to access. However although there are many of these genuine cases, there appears to be a huge trend or craze to cut gluten out of your diet, currently partaken by a staggering number of people.
Personally I’ve never really seen it to be a huge issue until I saw the introduction of the ‘Nima Sensor’.
This requires the user to take a small sample of the food (they are about to eat) and place it into the device. Once this has been done they then wait 2 – 3 minutes; if a smiling face is the picture on the display and the food is free from gluten. However, if a frowning face appears in the food contains gluten.
Now, like I said previously, I completely understand if a coeliac was using this, however I’m fully aware that it is not just being used by them.

Do you think it’s over the top and truly needed by a non celiac?
